How does mediation work?Once appointed, the mediator will liaise with the parties to schedule and manage the mediation process. On the day of the mediation, the mediator will assist the parties in better understanding the realities of their respective cases, will help guide the parties towards resolution, and they will manage the process of any settlement offers and counter offers.
-
What are the benefits of mediation?Mediation is quicker, cheaper, easier, less stressful, generally less confrontational, it can preserve relationships, it is completely confidential and highly likely to result in settlement.
-
Are mediators independent?Yes. All our mediators are completely independent, and operate with total integrity. As their mediation activities are fully regulated, primarily by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority, you can be assured of the mediator’s propriety at all times.

Consequently, by sharing the cost, mediation is an inexpensive option, especially compared to the alternatives.

What are the costs of mediation? At Mediator Locator we have two panels of mediators, a Primary Panel, for higher value more complex mediations, and a Set Value Panel for disputes up to £50k in value with fixed fees. With the Primary Panel, the cost depends on the nature of the dispute and which expert mediator is appropriate. However, rest assured that the cost will be competitive and significantly cheaper than other forms of dispute resolution.
-
Does Mediator Locator offer free mediation?Regrettably at present we are unable to provide any free mediations. However, we intend to keep this under review and hope to be able to offer some pro bono mediations in the future.
